Plan Review

Email a full set of plansand any relevant cut sheets to mark@dfwgreencode.com

The plans should indicate:

  • R-values and location of insulation
  • U-factor & SHGC for windows
  • HVAC sizing & SEER rating

Compare the 2009 IECC Highlights and the 2015 IECC Highlights for changes to the energy code.

After my review I will provide you with an IC3 report for new construction or a REScheck report for additions and remodels.  This report can satisfy the 'Energy & Atmosphere' section of the GreenBuilding Program.  You will also receive an energy compliance path form to turn in with your permit application

Inspection

An inspection must be done at insulation rough-in before sheetrock is installed on the walls.  A duct tightness test must be performed on new HVAC systems. Also, a blower door test must now be performed on all new construction.  I do not perform duct tests but I can schedule you with someone I work with who does.  The fee is approx. $100 for the first system and $50.00 foreach additional system for the duct test and $100 for the blower door.  A final inspection is also required and can be done at the same time as Green.

After my inspection I will provide you with an 2009 energy code compliance certificate for projects permitted prior to Sept. 1, 2016 which you give to the electrical inspector.  After Sept. 1, 2016 I'll turn in the 2015 energy code compliance certificate directly to the city.
